DOUNBY PARENT GROUP
(replacing School Boards from 01.08.07)
Because parents have such a vital role to play in their children's education, the Scottish Parliament has passed a new law called the Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Act 2006 - to encourage and support more parents to become involved. The main aims of this Act are to
- help parents become more involved with their child's education and learning
- welcome parents as active participants in the life of the school
- provide easier ways for parents to express their views and wishes.
To help achieve these aims, all parents will automatically be members of the Parent Forum at their child's school and will be entitled to have a say in what happens at the school. The Dounby Parent Group represents the Parent Forum as a Parent Council. All parents are welcome at the meetings.
The Parent Group is open to all parents of children at Dounby School. Where decisions have to be made there needs to be a quorum present at a meeting. A quorum shall be at least five parents from five different year groups.
Year groups are:
Nursery, Pre-School, Class 1, Class 2, Class 3, Class 4, Class 5, Class 6 and Class 7.
