DOUNBY COMMUNITY SCHOOL

In 1976 four small rural schools in the north-west mainland of Orkney were amalgamated into a new
school in the village of Dounby. The school serves the parishes of Birsay, Harray and Sandwick.
The school was extended in August 2000 and now hosts a range of community facilities including a large sports hall, a computer suite and a number of meeting rooms. There are also outdoor sports facilities including two football/rugby pitches, a tennis court and a small children's play area.
