MINUTES

| 1 | Constitution - further amendments: | ||
| i | Clause 9 line 15 | - agreed that this should remain the Parent Forum. | |
| ii | Clause 13 line 11 | - agreed that Council should be replaced by D C Parent Group. | |
| iii | The Appendix required an over-riding statement to take account of the reference made to the term Council. It was agreed that the following statement should be inserted at the beginning of the Appendix: | ||
| For the purposes of performing the functions of the Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Act 2006 the Dounby School Parent Group is deemed to be a Parent Council. | |||
| 2 | Appointment of Office bearers: | ||
| i | Chairperson - Bobby Flett was nominated by Isla Dougall and seconded by Barbara Jennings. (At this point Bobby chaired the meeting). | ||
| ii | Vice Chairperson - Kay Morgan (in her absence) was nominated by Anne Clark and seconded by Isla Dougall. Should Kay decline the nomination then the post of vice chairperson will be put on the agenda of the next meeting. | ||
| iii | Treasurer - Isla Dougall was nominated by Anne Clark and seconded by Rachel Thornley. | ||
| 3 | Appointment of Clerk - the group would encourage candidates to express an interest in providing the paid services of Clerk to the Dounby Parent Group. | ||
| 4 | Adoption of Constitution - Isla proposed that the amended Constitution be adopted and this motion was seconded by Barbara. | ||
| 5 | Vision statement. Greer and Hilary explained how all staff participated in this exercise. Viewing short video clips of leading theorists in education gave the staff a stimulus for discussion about what we as a community want for our pupils and school. Everybody contributed and agreed the final proposed vision statement:

| Copies of the statement were distributed amongst those at the meeting. All gave positive feedback. The draft vision statement is out for consultation to all parents. | |||
| 6 | All chairpersons have been invited to a meeting with Leslie Manson, Director of Education, to welcome the establishment of Parents Councils in Orkney. Bobby will attend this meeting and invited members of the Group to put forward any ideas etc that they would like discussed. | ||
| 7 | Bobby would welcome any ideas for future meetings. He thanked people for attending and closed the meeting. | ||
